COLLISION COURSE, LYGO SHOOTS BACK

Admiral Sir Raymond Lygo, K.C.B., Foreword by Sir Denis Thatcher, Book Guild 2002.

Not everyone can make the transition from service life to industrial management, but Sir Raymond Lygo did. From being one of the most skilful pilots in the Fleet Air Arm he went on to captain the Ark Royal, the largest ship the Royal Navy ever had, and finally became one of the youngest admirals in the service.

On retirement from the Navy, industry beckoned in the shape of British Aerospace which, as chief executive and managing director, he nursed through the traumatic experience of being the first nationalized company to be privatised. Here we have the inside story of the takeovers of Royal Ordnance and Rover and the negotiations with Whitehall that lay behind them. And, most famously of all, the Westland affair, which led to the resignation of two cabinet ministers and very nearly brought down the government.

Both the book and the dust jacket are in good condition. The book is however, a heavy item, so parcel post or surface mail might be considered.
