Apart from the many pictures which show the beginner what he can achieve and how to achieve it, there are reproductions of well known paintings to illustrate points of composition and technique, diagrams illustrating the relationships of colours to each other, anatomical studies, examples of such techniques as etching and engraving, and illustrations showing the best way to stretch and prepare canvases. 408 pages, 300 illustrations in colour, 150 in black and white.

The jacket has shaped folds, as if price clipped on all four inside corners. Apart from some very light and minor creases to the lower rear of the jacket, both the book and the dust jacket are in good condition. The book is heavy so parcel or surface mail might be the order of the day.
