Colonel Van Der Post’s great travel book is concerned with a people specially near to his heart. From childhood, he had been fascinated by the Bushmen – the aboriginal inhabitants of Africa, who even then were rapidly becoming extinct. An especially interesting item in the light of recent events regarding the Bushmen whose very existence is now under threat. This book was written before this time in the history of the Bushmen.
