GODS GRAVES AND SCHOLARS, THE STORY OF ARCHAEOLOGY

C.W.Ceram, RU, Victor Gollancz 1954, 308 pages, Translated from the German by E.B.Garside.

This book is a classic of archaeology, an entertaining stroll through what some writers on the subject turn into an uphill struggle for the reader, something which this author never does. He covers the story of archaeology from Part One, Pompeii, Troy, Mycenae and Crete, through to Toltec, Aztec and Maya origins, making the book compelling reading all the way.

Although this copy has no dust jacket, a small, very light stain and a slightly faded spine, the book is clean and tightly bound. A nice, enjoyable read for anyone interested in this most fascinating of subjects
