This is a collection of short stories by very famous authors. With the exception of three, all of the stories featured have a profile of the relevant author accompanied by one or more photographs of the same. There then follows the short story.

Among the authors featured are Ben Hecht, Edgar Allen poe, Gilbert K. Chesterton and Booth Tarkington. The authors who have a profile but no featured story are; John Steinbeck, and Ernest Hemingway.

There is no dust jacket, rather an album style pictorial cover, with gold blocked lettering. The pictorial photographic end papers are scenes from film and newspaper, depicting real events in many cases.

There is no dust jacket, rather, a pictorial cover board. Apart from the most minor shelf rub to the top and base of the spine and the tips of the covers (and this is very minor), the book is in very good condition.
