WEED DESTRUCTION, A FARMER’S AND STUDENT’S GUIDE

 Stanley A. Evans

 Blackwell Scientific Publications

 Medium 8to, 172 pages, 1962

Estimates of the financial loss to agriculture caused by weeds have reached astronomical levels, and maximum profits from the farm can be achieved only when these losses are reduced to a minimum by using the cheapest and most efficient methods of weed control. The farmer is usually faced with a choice of methods and often with a choice of weedkillers: this book gives practical guidance on both cultural and chemical methods of control, and will thus be invaluable not only to farmers themselves but also to students, salesmen and technical representatives of manufacturers and agricultural merchants.

This is an ex Rural college library book but exhibits very little sign of having been so. It has a logo label with stamp on the fep, a small, neat, green rectangular stamp on the Title page, a small square stamp with ink addendums on the verso, and the remnants of a stamp inside the rear boards. The dust jacket is faded to the spine, has a little shelf wear at the extremes. The boards have some staining but are strong. The front board has a minor bump to the base. The jacket has been price clipped. There are many illustrations to support the text. The pages are clean and tidy.

Undoubtedly, some of the weed killers in this book will now be banned. Equally, now might be the time to revisit the other methods and evaluate their possible re-use
