THE ROYAL GARDENERS, KING GEORGE V1 AND HIS QUEEN W. E. Shewell-Cooper, Cassell 1st 1952. The author was famous for his gardening books, which are still useful to the gardener to this day. An illustrated volume which covers most of the aspects of what is involved with looking after the gardens at Windsor and Buckingham Palace, and the involvement of the King in the production of the book right up to his death is acknowledged by the author. There is no dust jacket, the spine is faded, but the pages are nice and clean and the bindings are tight. The book contains some technical information on the growing of some of the fruit and crops for the Royal household, as well as the varieties used. A fascinating glimpse at the Royal way of life at home, which was probably as it had been for centuries, and is now somewhat different. |
