MEDIEVAL THEATRE COSTUME (A Practical Guide to the Construction of Garments).

 Iris Brooke.

 A&C Black, London, 1967.

Crown 4to,111 pages. The need for practical constructional help in the theatre wardrobe has been felt increasingly as the amateur theatre has moved away from the hiring of stock costumes for historical plays to the designing and making of its own costumes, a development due to the need for economy but no less to a preference for clothing the actor to give him a sense of character.

This is an ex-libris copy. Apart from one small rectangular stamp on the title verso, the The stamps, label and markings are confined to the front end papers. The pictorial cover have a clear covering, the boards have minor bumps and are rubbed at the extremes, minimal slackness. Overall, the pages are clean, the binding is tight. The book contains scaled charts of measurement and many useful ideas for the costume maker.
