THE BLOODHOUND

Hilary Harmar

W.G.Foyle 1968.

Bloodhounds are the oldest breed of hound which hunt by scent. They were first exhibited in Britain at the third dog show ever held. This was the first Open Dog Show and was held at Birmingham in 1860. From being popular and useful hounds in bygone ages, they eventually became almost extinct, but dog showing luckily brought about a turn in the tide.

Since World War One the highest registrations were 201 in 1935 and the lowest ebb was during World War Two in 1944 when only six Bloodhounds were registered. Now, with the modern sport of Bloodhound trials run by keen enthusiasts, who knows but that the Bloodhound may soon achieve a real revival? The author has a great knowledge of a number of breeds and she has now written a book which every Bloodhound lover, whether owner, would-be owner or breeder, will want to possess.

Apart from a little slight cover fading mainly to the top of the spine the book is in very good condition.

A scarce and sought after handbook, 110 pages, good condition
