THE PATTERN OF COMMUNIST REVOLUTION A History of World Communism, Hugh Seton-Watson, Methuen Revised and enlarged edition 1960. This study of Communism as an aggressive and revolutionary movement is as topical today as when it was first published; (1950). For this new edition the author has written two new chapters discussing the events of very recent times, including the changes in the Russian political scene, and the growing influence of revolutionary China, the events in Hungary and the development of communist influence in the Moslem and Latin-American spheres. A.J.P. Taylor said in The Observer of the original edition: What are the factors which produce a successful Communist Revolution? And what special element do the Communists themselves contribute? Hugh Seton-Watson is the first to face these questions. And his book puts us all in his debt. The dust jacket is a little foxed, and faded and light tanned at the extremes, as well as having a 2cm split at the top leading tip. On the inside fold is a very neatly written owners name in ink. On the inside cover board is a very small original bookshop plate, and at the top of the fep is an ink name and address inscription. The pages are nice and clean, the book is still tightly bound, and both the book and the dust jacket are in good condition. |
