Climbing the greasy pole to assume political power is a difficult business; but it may be that keeping your honour and virtue when you reach the top is even more of a problem. Abuse Of Trust shows just how many of the modern world’s leaders have betrayed their followers when they got to the top.

The list is long, and ranges from deranged despots like Papa Doc of Haiti to democratically elected leaders who lied and cheated, like Richard Nixon. It includes the Stalinist bosses of eastern Europe, who created a worker’s hell rather than a worker’s paradise, and those who thought nothing of lying to protect their own hypocrisies – like former FBI boss Herbert Hoover and some members of the British House Of Commons.

There is no dust jacket, rather pictorial cover boards. The condition is very good.
