The Illustrated History of Military Vehicles traces their evolution from the Simms Quadricycle of 1898 through the development of the tank, self-propelled gun and the armoured personnel carrier to the multitude of trucks, tractors and specialised vehicles introduced in World War 11. It ends with a survey of the wide range of highly sophisticated vehicles which carry the weaponry of the armies of today.

The reader can trace the story of dogged application, frustrating setbacks and sudden, fascinating leaps forward which characterizes the development of military vehicles through the demands and impetus of two world wars. The wide range of full-colour illustrations provides the reader with a vivid visual record of the innovations in the field from the days of the first motorized vehicles up to the present (1980).
