ARMY UNIFORMS SINCE 1945

Digby Smith – Michael Chappell, Blandford Colour Series paperback 1982.

The world has seldom been at peace since the end of WW2. Warfare ranging from sporadic outbursts of violence and guerrilla warfare in emergent nations to prolonged and open combat such as the bloody confrontation of ideologies in Vietnam have involved professional armies using increasingly sophisticated weaponry.

In Europe since 1945 the ‘cold war’ developed, albeit peacefully, into a highly organized competition between West and East to maintain the balance of military power.

This book contains 48 pages of colour plates which show the uniforms of the armies and irregular forces engaged in actual fighting throughout the world and also the uniforms of the forces of N.A.T.O and Warsaw Pact countries which were constantly engaged in the ‘cold war.’ Considerable detail has also been given on equipment and weapons as well as ‘buttons and bows’so that a broader and deeper impression can be gained of all the forces covered.

The book is in good condition and is tightly bound.
