The richness and variety of our British Heritage is reflected in this survey of treasures saved for the nation by the National Heritage Memorial Fund since its foundation in 1980.

 Such treasures include important works of art, areas of countryside, great country houses and masterpieces of engineering and design.

Leading figures from the worlds of art, conservation and journalism have contributed essays on current heritage issues and on different areas of the Fund’s work to this beautifully illustrated catalogue.

The subjects range from Donald Campbell’s record-breaking Bluebird to Beatrix Potter’s drawings, and from a rare species of orchid to a postman’s steam tricycle.

Each object is fully described, and the intriguing story given of its protection from export, damage or decay.

Apart from slight and minimal wear to the outer edges of the cover (miniscule), the book is in very good condition.
