There are 384 pages, and the book is illustrated with over 300 photographs and drawings, including 32 plates in full colour.

The majority of the photographs are in black and white but the colour plates are, in my opinion, superb.

The dust jacket, whilst being largely complete, has some large chips , mainly on the front. And the flap which folds into the book, though present, has become detached. Because of these things the cover boards are sunned at the extremes and a little blotchy in places. Despite these faults this is an excellent book, packed with knowledge for those who wish to learn.
