Lyn Irvine’s Foreword is self-explanatory.

" This is neither a practical guide for those who wish to make money from geese, nor the work of a professional naturalist: but I have seen something and tried to tell what I saw in a plain way, as Ruskin exhorted us to do. We still know very little about the domestic goose, although it has lived with men upon more or less friendly terms for thousands of years, and since I love the bird I should like to take part in dispelling that ignorance."

The book has no dust jacket and has a little light and limited foxing here and there and very slight bumps to the corners.

The pages are clean and tightly bound and the text is supported by black and white photographs. A deeper look at birds that some of us might otherwise take for granted.
