AN INTRODUCTION TO ANTIQUES

Various, Edited by John Bly

Chancellor Press 1993

This illuminating guide to identifying and valuing antiques has been inspired by the popular TV series, Heirloom, and draws on the specialist knowledge of John Bly, antiques expert and host of Heirloom, and a number of his guest presenters, specialists in 12 different fields. A wide range of subjects is covered, from pictures, porcelain and silver, to furniture, toys and art nouveau.

The lively, accessible text concentrates on items you might find in your loft or at the local auction house. Many of these pieces are illustrated, and rarer pieces are also shown for comparison. The contributors advice on what is currently (at 93) under , or over-priced in their area of collecting and speculate on what may become collectable in the future.

Additional information on the restoration and preservation of pieces makes this a practical guide to antiques that no collector should be without.

Apart from some minor creasing and wear to the edges of the dust jacket, and a label shadow on the upper right corner of the same, both the book and the dust jacket are in good condition.

A lavishly illustrated book, mainly in full colour. Informative and well written.
