MAN AND THE SUN

 Jacquetta Hawkes

 RU

 8to, 280 pages, 1963

Ten chapters on man’s fascination with, and worship of, the sun, through the ages. Contains the Pharaoh Akhenaten’s Hymn to the Sun, and ‘Selection from the Emperor Julian’s ‘Hymn to King Helios’.

There is an ink ownership inscription at the top of the fep and a neat signature at the bottom of the inside fold of the jacket, and underneath the fold also. Very minor shelf wear. The (paper) jacket also has a few light creases at the front (very minor), and two tiny splits and a crease at the bottom rear. I mention these things in the cause of accuracy but they really are very minor. The book is very good with clean, tightly bound pages
