NICHOLAS NICKLEBY

First published in 1839. This edition contains all the emendations made in the first text as revised by the author in 1867 and 1868, a portrait of the novelist by Daniel Maclise, R.A. and reproductions of the original illustrations by Phiz.

There is no dust jacket, the cover boards have scrapes and marks and the front cover has a diagonal crease which has gone right through the board, although this is still solid. Apart from a neat ink inscription at the top of the fep, and some light and very limited foxing to the closed page edges, the pages are very nice and clean and tightly bound.

 In my opinion this copy is nice enough to warrant being rebound. There are 39 original illustrations by Phiz and a portrait of Charles Dickens by Daniel Maclise, R.A.
