MEMOIRS OF THE LIFE OF COLONEL HUTCHINSON

 Written by his Widow Lucy

The Essay by Francois P.G. Guizot

 J.M.Dent

 16mo, 393 pages, grey boards, rep 1913

Memoirs of the life of Colonel Hutchinson, a top aide to Oliver Cromwell, former Governer of Nottingham Castle and one of the signatories to the execution of  Charles 1st. Following the Reformation, Hutchinson was imprisoned and died in captivity. His wife decided to write the memoir for the sake of her children but it is so detailed as to present a vivid picture of the turbulent times in the England of the 17th century.

There is no dust jacket, one or two light ‘rust’ marks to the spine, light edge wear. There is no slackness to the boards and the pages are exceptionally clean and tight. A very nice survivor, in very good condition
