PRISONER IN THE BAR Margaret Reynolds Phoenix House Crown 8to, 141 pages, red boards, 1958 The entertaining autobiography of a pub landlady in Kent. As it was written in the fifties there is some of the flavour captured by H.E.Bates in The Darling Buds of May, which was published in the same year. The anecdotes are accompanied in parts by amusing vignettes by James Boswell. A satisfying little fireside book There is no dust jacket. Apart from a little light shelf wear and a very minor bump to the rear board, at the spine, the book is in good condition. The pages are clean and tight. |
