 657 pages and profiles on approximately 40 famous Tudors, including Sir Francis Drake, William Shakespeare, Richard Burbage, Francis Bacon and Ben Johnson. Among the authors of each piece are such notaries as A.L.Rowse, W.H. Auden, and Douglas Woodruff.

A large and weighty tome, there is no dust jacket, only an odd mark on the covers, the spine is faded and there is some slight, almost imperceptible light fading to the page edges. A very interesting and informative book which benefits from not being set in any one particular writing style
